[EDIT] I re-uploaded this because I redid the photo today and removed the backround on the top-right corner. The rose had opened up a little bit more, so I prefer this one.
Bought this beautiful pale yellow rose today to test out the Macro lens.

I love how the color is more vibrant on the inside of the rose and fades to a pale yellow at the tips of the petals. I've always liked how certain flowers- the rose in particular, is very closed up in the middle while the outer petals are open and showing off. Like it's trying to hide something special at it's core.
Very beautiful shot with nice focus in the middle as well as having soft edges to the outer petals. I'm not sure if a different colored background would have looked better or not... it's kinda nice with the outer petals almost blending in with the white background but not sure... if you did have a different color backdrop for this I think a soft tone would be better than something vibrant so that the yellow color in the rose will dominate the photo as it does now, but a secondary color might give the rose as a whole a bit more "pop" if you know what I mean. I don't know, perhaps if you still want to mess around with this you can try it. A soft pastel green might look nice, but it might be difficult to find something that would provide that color and serve nicely as a background.
*sigh* I never noticed this unti now, but there's part of the background showing at the top-right corner. So I'll retake this one. I could crop it, but as you know I like to capture the image properly.
Well at least you noticed it. and it's a good thing that it's something like this where you have the flower in your possession so you can easily retake the photo and not like you took it while hiking or something.
